After an especially over-indulgent dinner last night, Lo and I got up at the crack of dawn to prep for the NYRR Scotland Run! Even though it was a 9 am run, we had to get there early to pick up t-shirts, in hopes that we’d get a small size… but we didn’t. Sad face.

I thought it would be a bad race because I made the mistake of running 5 miles on Friday and was still sore in the morning, but it was a good race! We also got good treats afterward even if we didn’t win the tickets for 2 trip to Scotland. Maybe next year.
And then after a nap at our respective apartments, Lo & I headed downtown to study at Bourbon Coffee. I really like this place. The coffee’s good and I like the atmosphere. After a semi-studious couple hours, we headed downtown some more for dinner at Westville! I’ve been wanting to go here for a few weeks now, given the New York Times review and recommendation of it.
Lo & I shared a plate of market vegetables — basically an assortment of their market vegetables for the day. We got cauliflower, fennel, tofu, and leeks. (Note: I may have gotten that all wrong because it’s been so long since I had it…) It was yummy, though I wouldn’t recommend the tofu. It was marinated in soy sauce, and you should never marinate tofu in soy sauce! It just soaks it up like a sponge, and becomes a spongy soy sauce mass. Not super delicious.
Lo got the grilled pork chop smothered with onions & mushrooms.
I got the veggie burger topped with mixed mushrooms & spicy tartar sauce. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say it was amazing either. It was average. As I imagine most chickpea burgers are.
Today’s lesson: I’m not ready to give up my meat burgers just yet, and never workout the 2 days before a race longer than 4 miles.
